Access to the Museum
When the idea of a Smurf statue was put to the Studio Peyo, the draftsmen started with research to find the best suited attitude. Lots of sketches were done. Given the size of the statue, it was paramount to work on the fact that a Smurf is a dwarf by placing it on a mushroom. The friendly nature of the character had to transpire from the monument. This is why his huge smile seems to welcome us and invite us to enter the Horta gallery, or simply to pose next to him for a cute souvenir pic. The museum also boasts a space entirely dedicated to the small blue creatures in their recreated village. Some of the prototypes used in the movie “The Smurfs” are also presented.
5 metres high, it is a must-see of the Brussels city centre.
